Will Around the Corner have any shared tools?
A computer and printer will be provided. The printer is a Canon PIXMA Photo printer and high resolution scanner and accepts all forms of digital photgraphy. Slides and Negatives can be scanned and printed. There is a per person limit to the number of photos printed. A Xyron Wishblade will be available for your use, and can cut almost anything imaginable onto the paper you provide. Idea Books and Quote Books will be on hand, if you should need some inspiration. Miscellaneous tools are available for your use. And I'm always willing to share... what's mine is yours!
What meals are included in the package?
Friday - Dinner
Saturday - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (On Occasion Brunch)
Sunday - Brunch
Normally the Hotels offer Soda, Coffee, Tea, Water, Iced Tea or Milk with your meal. A lounge is located at the hotel, as well as vending machines. Feel free to bring along a cooler of beverages, as well as snacks. Some Hotels allow alcoholic beverages in the Conference rooms.
What size table will I get to work at?
Every retreat varies. In most cases you will be provided with your own table. The basic table size is 6' x 3'. You will never have less that 4' of space. Friday you will be assigned a table, and you will be able to set yourself up through to Sunday. The room will be locked when we are not in it, and open as late and as early as we want.
Can I scrap in my pajamas and slippers?
Absolutely, this weekend is about being comfortable, and having a good time! Dress comfortable. Room temperatures vary, so be sure to bring a layer or two just in case! Slippers are always a good idea, not all banguet rooms are carpeted.
Will there be supplies on hand for purchase?
Vendors will set up in the conference room, such as Close to My Heart, TLC, Memory Works and Creative Memories, and on occasion a local Scrapbook store will set up shop in our room. Scrapbook Store Locations are considered in determining the location of the Retreats.
Is there assigned seating?
When you first arrive in the Conference room, you will look for your name card, which will be on the table assigned to you. Groups that registered together will be given a block of seating. If you have a seating request please address that on the registration form, email, or call me.
Will there be Contests and Prizes?
There will be awards given for page contests (only pages made while at the retreat), including some of the following.

Anything Goes (your favorite project, page, card, calendar, etc. that you made during the retreat)

Bring your pictures of Mom and Grandma to the Angola retreat. There will be a prize to the best Mom project to celebrate Mothers Day. Also, at the Angola retreat, to celebrate National Scrapbook Day, I'll take pictures of everyone hard at work on Friday. On Saturday, I'll be printing the pictures to hand out to everyone... this is the Saturday Challenge - make a project including the Crop Pictures. Saturday night we will take a vote!
There is usually a weekend challenge. In addition we will be playing games and raffling off prizes. There is no cost to enter the contests.
What do I need to bring to a Scrapbooking Retreat?
You'll want to bring a variety of pictures, as well as an assortment of paper, also neutral shades of paper, stickers, embellishments, ribbon, etc. Cutters, scissors and adhesive. This is your time to work on whatever you want.
I suggest you PREPLAN your work. Buy 2 gallon freezer bags at the grocery store -12x12 paper will fit perfectly in these. Sort all the pictures you might want to scrap during the weekend and make notes of any journaling you might want to include. In each bag put your paper, pictures, embellishments, ribbons, stickers, even a page cut-out from you favorite scrap book magazine for a little inspiration!
Here are a few more items you may want to bring along; a seat cushion, a craft light, a camera, cash/ checkbook/credit cards - shop with the vendors or add an extra class, if you're nervous about spilling your drink, bring a tag-along drink holder, also you might want snacks and drinks.
Can we listen to music while we Scrapbook?
A variety of light music will be played. However if you prefer, you are more than welcome to bring a personal mp3 player. We ask that you turn your cellular phone down to a quiet ring or vibrate.
If I cancel, do I get my deposit back?
No. Unfortunately, contracts are signed with the Hotels for a specific block of participants. Around the Corner Scrapbook Retreats still has to pay a 25% - 100% penalty for those who cancel. If you pay in full and need to cancel, any cancellations 30 days prior to the Retreat will receive a refund minus the $50 deposit.
I am on a special diet, what arrangements can be made for dining?
Please call me with your concerns. I will be happy to give you a retreat price, that does not include your meals. You will be free to order off of the menu, bring your own meals, or travel to local restaurants as needed.

Are the costs of my hotel included in the Retreat?
No, you will reserve your room at the hotel, and are guaranteed a reduced group rate. When calling for reservations mention you are with the "Around the Corner Scrapbooking" group. You are not required to stay at the hotel, local participants can go home each night.
